My 1999 Cougar Key Won't Turn
- 1). Put your Cougar in park and apply the emergency brake.
- 2). Jerk the steering wheel to the left and the right to try and free the car's Tires from an awkward position, which might prevent you from engaging the ignition.
- 3). Lubricate as much of the stuck key as you can with WD-40. This might help you move the key all the way into the ignition before turning it.
- 4). Use a thin knife blade to check for broken pieces in the ignition slot. These might be preventing you from inserting the key into the ignition completely.
