How to Protect Boat Windows

    • 1). Measure the length and width of each window on the boat with a measuring tape and record the measurements, together with the location of the window.

    • 2). Using these measurements for a given window, use the tape to mark the length of that window along one edge of the plywood. Use a carpenter's steel square to make a line toward the center of the plywood, perpendicular to the bottom edge of the plywood, at that point.

    • 3). Measure along this perpendicular line a distance equal to the width of the window and mark that dimension with an "X." Use the carpenter's square as a straight edge to mark a line from the "X" to the side of the plywood, parallel to the bottom of the plywood sheet.

    • 4). Use the circular saw to cut along the two lines which meet at the "X." Repeat for all windows.

    • 5). Tape the plywood sheets in place with duct tape to await the spring thaw and the beginning of the next boating season.
