How to Put on Front Shocks for a '92 Caprice

- 1). Park the Caprice on a level surface and turn off the key. Raise one of the front wheels with the jack. Place a jack stand under the car near the jacking point and raise it to the frame.
- 2). Grasp the stem of the shock absorber with the channel-lock pliers. Remove the upper nut, retainer and grommet using a wrench. Remove the two lower bolts attaching the shock to the control arm using a socket and ratchet.
- 3). Attach the new shock to the lower control arm and tighten the bolts with the socket and ratchet. Grasp the stem of the shock absorber with the channel-lock pliers to keep it from moving. Install the retainer, grommet and upper nut using a wrench.
- 4). Remove the jack stand from under the Caprice. Lower the car to the ground. Repeat the procedure on the other wheel.
