How to Remove a Battery From a 2005 Chevy Venture Van

    • 1). Park your 2005 Chevy Venture van in a spot that gives you room to work around the engine compartment. Shift the van into park and set the parking brake. Turn the engine off and remove the keys from the ignition. Pop the hood.

    • 2). Remove the cross-bar holding the battery in place. The cross-bar is held in place with socket bolts. Remove the bolts and lift the cross-bar up and out of the way.

    • 3). Move the fuse box. Loosen the screw holding the fuse box in place with a Phillips head screwdriver. Set the screw aside. Lift the fuse box up and out of the way.

    • 4). Disconnect the black (negative) battery terminal. Use a socket wrench to loosen the bolt on the terminal. Lift the terminal off the battery post.

    • 5). Disconnect the red (positive) battery terminal. Use the socket wrench to loosen the bolt on the terminal. Lift the terminal off the battery post.

    • 6). Loosen the battery brace holding the battery in place. The bolt for this is located at the base of the battery mounting plate. Unscrew the bolt with the adjustable wrench and remove the brace.

    • 7). Remove the battery from the 2005 Chevy Venture van.
