How to Replace 1997 Honda Accord Headlights
- 1). Open the hood of your 1997 Accord and locate the rear of the headlight assembly from the engine side of the radiator support. Locate the electrical connector on the rear of the headlight.
- 2). Depress the locking tab on the electrical connector and pull it down, releasing it from the headlight bulb. Lay the wiring harness and connector aside for now.
- 3). Grasp the headlight bulb and turn it counterclockwise, then pull the bulb straight out of the headlight assembly. Discard the old bulb and insert a new bulb into the headlight assembly. Do not handle the glass portion of the bulb, as the oils in your hands will cause the bulb to overheat and fail.
- 4). Turn the new headlight bulb clockwise to lock it into position. Push the electrical connector onto the base of the bulb until the locking tab snaps into place. Repeat the process to replace the opposite bulb if necessary, then close the hood.
- 5). Test the headlights by turning the headlight switch to the On position and checking the lights to see that they are working. Cycle through the high and low beam positions, then turn the headlights off.
