The 2006 Toyota 4Runner and Electrochromic Mirror Installation

    • 1). Open the 4Runner's hood and use a socket wrench to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.

    • 2). Use a slotted screwdriver to pry off the side pillar cover on the driver's side of the vehicle. Pull the scuff plate out of the driver's side of the vehicle and remove the original rear view mirror by removing its securing screw and pulling it off the mounting bracket.

    • 3). Place the mirror onto the mounting bracket and securing the tightening screw. Route the mirror's 7-pin wiring connector into the groove of the windshield wire cover and carefully maneuver it down through the side pillar until the connector reaches the parking brake pedal.

    • 4). Connect the 7-pin connector to the wiring harness underneath the dash next to the parking brake.

    • 5). Reattach the side pillar cover and the scuff plate. Reconnect the battery to the 4Runner and close the hood. Test the mirror.
