Nissan Almera, A Brief History

The very first Nissan Almera rolled off the production line in 1995.
This vehicle was produced as a direct replacement for the Nissan Sunny which had amassed quite a following in its thirty year life span.
Most of the model sold in the UK were hatch back versions with either three or five doors.
Other areas such as Ireland saw more saloon versions as they were deemed to be more commonplace there.
First Generation Nissan Almera N15- 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 The first generation came equipped with three different engine variations.
A 1.
4 Si GA14DE engine, a 1.
6 Sri GA16DE or the 2.
0 GTi SR20DE.
All models came equipped with what was considered "high spec" bumpers, fog lamps, alloy wheels and rear roof lip spoilers.
The GTi came with an optional factory installed body kit giving it a more aggressive stance, and also an uprated suspension.
There was a revision in the 1998, 1999, 2000 models.
Front bumpers were redesigned with the addition of front splitters and all rear lip spoilers had the inclusion of a high mount brake light.
There was an upgraded body kit available for the GTi models as the previous version proved to be too slight, the revised edition was much sturdier to handle day to day driving abuse.
Second Generation Nissan Almera N16 - 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 In early 2000 Nissan introduced us to its second generation of the Almera.
Revisions over past models saw this version having smoother lines.
Also handling was upgraded which made the vehicle feel much more responsive and very nimble for a car that was targeted as a family vehicle.
This generation of the Almera was available in three main body styles, three door hatch, five door hatch and four door saloon.
Engines available in the second generation were as follows, 1.
5L QG15DE, 1.
5L K9K diesel, 1.
8 QG18DE and the 2.
2 YD22DDTI diesel.
The addition of the 2.
2 diesel made this version the fastest Nissan in the UK before the arrival of the 350z.
Third Generation Nissan Almera B10 - 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 The last generation of the Model was released in 2002 and is still in production today.
It has been dubbed the Almera Classic and with the constant improvements from Nissan throughout its life it has proven to be quite dependable, fairly sporty and efficient on fuel.
The engines available for the newer models have been paired down to two, the YD22DCI and the QG18DE.
Both offer strong performance and dependability for many years to come.
