How to Shine Faded Paint
- 1). Take your car through a car wash, or wash the vehicle yourself with soap and water. If you take your car through a car wash, don't have any waxes or sealants applied. Wait for your vehicle to dry.
- 2). Apply a liquid oxidation remover to your vehicle's painted panels. You can find liquid oxidation removers at any auto parts store. Rub the oxidation remover in a circular motion with a dry polishing cloth or rag. Cover all the paint surfaces. You should see a haze appear as it dries. Once the panels have dried completely, buff the surfaces with a clean cloth.
- 3). Apply a car polish to your vehicle's paint. You can also find these polishes at any auto parts store. Rub the polish in a circular motion with a damp polishing cloth or rag, covering all the paint surfaces. As with the oxidation remover, the polish will form a haze as it dries. Wipe the paint with a clean, dry cloth. You may need additional cloths to thoroughly remove all the polish residue.
- 4). Wait 30 days, then apply a second coat of polish. The directions for applying the polish remain the same as with the first coat.
