How to Remove the Gas Tank on a 1989 ZX10
- 1). Turn the fuel valve on the left side of the gas tank to the Off position.
- 2). Lift up the side cushions near the passenger's portion of the seat and unscrew the mounting bolts with a 10 mm socket and a socket wrench. Lift the seat and pull it away from the gas tank to remove it from the motorcycle.
- 3). Unscrew the pair of bolts under the cross-member below the base of the gas tank, using a 10 mm socket.
- 4). Lift the base of the gas tank slightly and unplug the fuel gauge sender's wiring connector. Pull the fuel lines off the fuel valve.
- 5). Pull the gas tank away from the motorcycle's frame and front fork until it can be removed completely.
