A Supercomputer Range For My Desk

Breaking the news these days is the new range of supercomputers, which NVIDIA plans to launch.
According to what sources say, Tesla Supercomputers, a subdivision of NVIDIA is developing a range of supercomputer which won't cost millions.
That's right; these computers are priced so low that they'll be found lying alongside our desktops and our PCs, at our homes! These GPU-based supercomputers can be purchased for under $10,000 and they boast an unbelievable processing power of one teraflop (one flop=one floating point operation per second)! This is approximately 250 times the processing power of ordinary desktop computers.
Tesla utilizes NVIDIA's CUDA technology, enabling it to be programmed in C.
Needless to say, the advent of supercomputer is going to change the way we look at computing.
With processing times brought down considerably, this technology will enable us to build more time efficient machinery, hence improving industry and manufacturing processes all over the world.
It will enable us to build machines which earlier we couldn't, due to lack of processing power.
With the development of supercomputers which are so cost effective, tech experts all over the world are expecting robotics related fields to get a huge impetus.
Maybe we will finally get to see artificial intelligence at work! These supercomputers also find extensive scope in space exploration programs, as the vehicles involved need to make their way along complex trajectories.
The only difference is, they will now be able to incorporate small intricacies which will hugely affect the efficiency of such complex machinery.
It also becomes very safe to assume that scientific research will be pushed through at a much greater speed, as many of the world's educational hubs, such as the Harvard university, already have plans to install them in their own research facilities.
They say that the processing power of this world's computers doubles every 10 months.
Imagine what we'll have 20 years from today.
