How to Backup an HD DVD

    DVD Fab

    • 1). Visit DVD Fab's main download page (see Resources) and click the "Download" button for a free trial download version. Double-click the downloaded application file to install the software. Agree to the terms of use and launch the program.

    • 2). Insert your HD DVD into your computer. Choose your HD DVD from the "Source" drop-down button.

      Click the "Full Disc" icon, located in the left panel on the main screen.

    • 3). Enable the "Copy DVD-Video (Video_TS Folder)" button, located under the "Copying" icon.

    • 4). Click the "Target" folder icon near the top of the screen and choose the hard drive or location on your computer to which you want to back up your DVD.

    • 5). Click the "Start" button in the lower right corner of the screen to begin backing up your HD DVD.

    DVD-Cloner

    • 1). Download a free trial version of DVD-Cloner from its parent website (see Resources). Run through the installation process by double-clicking the downloaded ".exe" file. Agree to the licensing terms and launch DVD-Cloner.

    • 2). Insert your DVD into your computer. Click the "Expert" interface button and click the "Copy Movie to DVD" button (You will still back up your HD DVD to a hard drive by clicking this button).

    • 3). Click on the folder button to the right of the "Target" drop-down box. Direct the pop-up window to the hard drive or location you want your HD DVD backed up to and click "Save."

    • 4). Click the lower right copy option (the icon of "DVD-9" pointing to a blank DVD) when prompted by the copy menu.

      Press the "Start" button to begin copying your DVD.

    Any DVD Cloner

    • 1). Launch your web browser and visit Any DVD Cloner's main download page (see Resources). Click the "Download" button for "Any DVD Cloner Platinum" edition to download the free trial version. Run the installation file, agree to the terms of use, and launch Any DVD Cloner.

    • 2). Insert your HD DVD into your computer's disc drive and click the "Open DVD" button in Any DVD Cloner's main interface. (This will open a pop-up window where you can search your computer).

    • 3). Click your DVD's icon to select its contents.

    • 4). Click the "Output Device" drop-down button and choose the "DVD Folder" option. (You will automatically enter a "Browse For Folder" window).

    • 5). Choose a folder on your hard drive where you want to back up your files and click the "Start Copy" button.
