How Do I Decontaminate CDs After a Flood?
- 1). Wipe down your CD with a dry cotton cloth to get rid of any extra moisture. Moisture buildup can cause mold to form. Wipe from the center of the CD outward to help prevent damage to the CD.
- 2). Rinse the CD with clean water before cleaning with any detergent. This will help get rid of any buildup of contaminants.
- 3). Use a water-based detergent, such as dish soap, or a CD-intended cleaning spray to decontaminate the CD after flood damage. The solution will help get rid of any mold or other contaminants that are on the CD. Be sure to use your soft cotton cloth to apply the solution and then wipe it from the middle of the CD to the edge of the CD, without using a circular motion.
- 4). Dry the CD with a clean cotton cloth once the contaminants are removed.
