- 1). Click the Windows "Start" button. Click "Run" and type "%SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe" (without quotes) and then click "OK." Click "Create a restore point" on the "Welcome to System Restore Page" and click "Next." Type in a name for your restore point and click "Create." Click "Close." This will back up the registry and the system.
- 2). Click the Windows "Start" button and click "Search." Click "Search for Files and Folders" on the left panel.
- 3). Type "ctfmon.exe" (without quotes) and click "Search." When the search is complete, right-click the "ctfmon.exe" file and delete it.
- 4). Empty the recycle bin.
- 5). Run your antivirus program to remove W32.Fakerecy files that may be left over. If you do not have an antivirus program, download AVG Antivirus free (see Resources) and install it on your computer. Perform a full system scan and delete all W32.Fakerecy files found.
