How to Check the Emissions Light on a '98 Honda Accord
- 1). Locate the open on board diagnostics (OBD) port to the left of your Accord's fuse panel.
- 2). Plug the OBD scan tool plug into the open OBD port.
- 3). Turn the ignition key to the "on" position.
- 4). Wait for the OBD tool to retrieve the codes from the computer. Once the scan tool has retrieved the codes, write the codes on paper. You can take this information to your Honda dealership and have the codes translated for you so that you know what is wrong with your car. You may also be able to find many of the codes available online for free (see resources).
