How to Take Apart My Compaq Presario M2000 Laptop
- 1). Shut down your laptop, close the lid and disconnect from the AC adapter. Flip the laptop over to begin removing components.
- 2). Remove the battery first. Slide the battery release latch and pull the battery out. The battery is the only component with a slide latch.
- 3). Remove the hard drive. The hard drive is located on the opposite side of the battery and has two screws holding the cover in place. The screws will not come off completely. Remove the cover. Loosen the screw holding the hard drive in place. Pull the tab and the hard drive to the nearest edge of the laptop to remove.
- 4). Remove the memory modules. A small compartment below the battery holds the memory modules. Remove the single screw holding the cover in place. Push both clips out at the same time to pop the memory module up. Pull upwards gently to remove the modules.
- 5). Remove the wireless card. The wireless compartment is located in the center of the laptop. Remove the single screw holding the cover in place. Use tweezers or needle nose pliers to remove the two antenna cables. Push the clips holding the wireless card in place out and pull the card upwards to remove.
- 6). Remove the CD drive. In the wireless compartment, remove the screw holding the drive to the laptop base. Insert a paper clip into the pin sized hole on the outside of the CD drive to eject the tray. Pull the tray and rails out slowly to remove.
