How to Charge an iPod Nano With a Computer

      This piece plugs in to your computer's USB port.

      Locate the white iPod cable that came packaged with your device. If you examine the cable, you will see that it has a different square connector on each end. Plug the smaller of these two into your computer's available USB port. Your computer must be turned on to charge your iPod.

      This piece plugs into the bottom of your iPod.

      Connect the other end of the cable into the bottom of your iPod. It should slide in effortlessly, and click into place. If you have difficulty, squeeze the sides of the cable to release the tension rods that help hold the cable snugly inside the device. It should slide in easily.

    • 3). In the upper right hand corner of your iPod screen, you should see the battery indicator. It displays a green bar to show how full your battery is, and displays a red bar when your iPod needs to be charged. If you have connected the device properly, you should see a flashing lightening bolt in the middle of this battery indicator.

      Some people use a dock to charge their iPods. A dock is simply a connector cable built into a stand that holds the iPod upright. To charge your iPod using a dock, place the iPod in the dock, making sure the bottom of the device is attached firmly to the connector. Plug the other end of the dock into your computer's USB port. You will see the same lights as indicated above.
