- 1). Click on "My Computer" and right-click the disk you want to scan. Click "Properties," then scroll down to "Tools."
- 2). Under the "Error Checking" tab, click on "Check Now." Click "Check Disk Options," then click "Scan for and Attempt Recovery of Bad Sectors." Click "Start" and allow the scan to finish.
- 3). Download or purchase anti-virus or anti-malware software if the scanning software you have didn't fix the problem. Open the program and click the "Computer Scanner," then click "Scan Specific Files or Folders." Find the disk you want to scan in "My Computer," then click "Scan." Let the program scan the disk.
- 4). Click the boxes on the left to highlight the infected files, then click "Delete." This will remove the viruses or infections from your computer.
