Video: How to Know if an iPad Is Jailbroken
Video Transcript
Hi. My name is Rachel Youens. I am a mobile strategist and I run the App log ladyappapp.com, and what I want to talk about today is if you're looking at buying an iPad second hand, one of the things that you might want to know is if it's jailbroken. It's not like the iPad walks around wearing prison garb or anything like that so. You can't necessarily tell by looking at it straight on that it's jailbroken. So I want to talk about one of the ways that you can tell. There are a few small tweaks that you might see on an iPad. When it first turns on, there are certain jailbreak programs that may actually change the Apple logo to a Pineapple or some other fruit. That will be an immediate warning that it's been jailbroken. If you don't see any other differences though there are three apps to look for on the phone. It'll have one of these three. And these are the jailbreaking software that they've used to jailbreak the phone. One is called Cydya. That's Cydia with a C. One is called Icy, and one is called Installer. So, you're going to want to search the phone for those apps. You can either just look on the home screen or you can actually slide to the side and search for them. But finding one of those three apps will be one of the number one indicators that your iPad has been jailbroken.
