Upgrading the Hard Drive

• 1). Turn off your laptop. Disconnect the power cable and all external devices. Close the display panel and place the computer face down on a flat surface. Position the laptop so the front opening is facing toward you.
  
  
• 2). Press on the battery release buttons. Remove the battery pack from its compartment in the upper, left corner of the laptop.
  
  
• 3). Remove the two Phillips-head screws securing the hard drive compartment cover in place. The hard drive compartment is in the upper, left corner of the laptop just below the battery. Remove the cover from the laptop.
  
  
• 4). Remove the Phillips-head screws securing the hard drive in place. Grasp the plastic tab extending from the hard drive, and slide it to the left to disconnect it from the motherboard. Slowly remove the drive from the laptop. Place the new hard drive inside the compartment. Slide the drive to the right until the drive is firmly connected to the motherboard.
  
  
• 5). Replace the hard drive compartment cover, and its two retaining Phillips-head screws.
  
  

Upgrading RAM

• 1). Remove the two Phillips-head screws securing the memory compartment cover to the center of the laptop's bottom casing. Remove the cover from the laptop.
  
  
• 2). Spread the retaining latches on each side of the memory module inside the compartment. Grasp the module, tilt it upward at an angle and then pull the module from the memory slot. Repeat this for each module you remove from the laptop.
  
  
• 3). Place the new memory module inside the empty memory slot. Align the notch on the memory module with the notch inside the slot. Push the module inside the slot until the retaining latches snap the module in place. Repeat this for each module you install. Replace the memory compartment's plastic cover, and its two screws.
  
  
• 4). Replace the battery pack. Place the laptop face up. Reconnect all cables and devices to the laptop.
