Computer Won't Boot Unless a USB Drive Is Attached

    • 1). Shut down your computer and restart it. Watch the screen carefully as it starts back up. Look for a message saying "Press X to enter setup." The "X" will generally be one of the function keys, often the F2 or F10 key.

    • 2). Press the appropriate key to enter the setup menu. Arrow over to the advanced settings.

    • 3). Find the boot order option and change the boot order so that the USB drive is not the first device listed. Use the arrow keys to move the USB drive down in priority. Make sure the hard drive is listed as one of the devices to boot from.

    • 4). Press the "Esc" key to exit setup. Choose the "Save changes and exit" option and restart the computer.
