How to Remove a Password From a Toshiba Laptop

    • 1). Remove the battery from the compartment on the bottom of the laptop. All you need to do is unlock this compartment and slide out the battery. It is recommended that you leave out the battery for at least 24 hours to remove the password protection. After 24 hours, reinstall the battery and recharge.

Now try to reboot your laptop. If this did not solve the problem, continue to Step 2.

    • 2). Format your hard drive. You can do this by inserting the recovery disk in your disc drive. Allow it to completely re-install. This will reload all of your original settings. After the recovery disc has completed its cycle, you will be prompted to reboot your laptop. If this did not solve the problem, continue to Step 3.

    • 3). Contact Toshiba and set up for a service call. A Toshiba technician will have to use what is called an engineering key to unlock your laptop, if you are not able to reformat with the recovery disk.
