How to Watch Analog TV on a Laptop
- 1). Make sure your system is powerful enough. Laptops are more powerful today than ever, but it still takes a lot of juice to be able to watch TV on your laptop. Different TV tuners will have different system requirements, so make sure that your system is capable of handling the TV tuner that you choose.
- 2). Purchase a TV tuner. If your laptop did not come shipped with an internal TV tuner, buy an external USB TV tuner to be able to watch analog television on your laptop. Hauppuage is a popular brand for Windows users; EyeTV is a popular brand for Mac users.
- 3). Install the software. Your USB TV tuner should come with a software disk that should include drivers and software to enable you to use the TV tuner with your laptop. Install this software before plugging the TV tuner into your laptop.
- 4). Plug in your cable or antenna. Connect the TV tuner to your laptop, and hook it up to your antenna or to your cable using a coaxial cable. Then you should be able to enjoy analog or even HD television on your laptop.
