- 1). Turn off the laptop, disconnect the power cable, battery pack and any peripheral devices. It is not a good idea to disassemble a laptop or any electrical device while it is still connected to a power source.
- 2). Pry up the keyboard bezel with a small flathead screwdriver then set it aside. The keyboard bezel is the plastic strip located between the keyboard and the laptop's monitor.
- 3). Use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the two black screws securing the keyboard to the laptop. Then carefully lift up the keyboard out of the laptop frame. Do not try to remove the laptop completely. It is still connected to the logic board by a ribbon cable.
- 4). Use your finger nails to release the black tab securing the ribbon cable to the logic board. Disconnect the ribbon cable and remove the keyboard completely from the laptop and set it aside.
