How to Transfer an XP System to a New Hard Drive

- 1). In "My Computer," right-click on your new hard drive and select "Format." Do the full format (not quick), and select the NTFS file system (not FAT).
- 2). Go back to "My Computer" and open the C: drive. In Windows Explorer, click on the "Tools" menu, then "Folder Options."
- 3). Click on the "View" tab. Under "Hidden Files and Folders," select "Show hidden files and folders."
- 4). Select every file in your C: drive, and drag and drop it to your new hard drive. Allow all the files to copy.
