- 1). Right-click an open area of the Dock, and select "Dock Preferences." Alternatively, click the Apple logo in the upper-left corner of the window, select "System Preferences," then click the "Dock" icon under the "Personal" heading.
- 2). Click to place a check in the "Automatically hide and show the Dock" box. The Dock immediately retracts out of view.
- 3). Move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the window to show the Dock. If you have moved the dock to one of the sides of the screen, move the mouse pointer to that side to show the Dock.
- 4). Close the Dock Preferences window to save your settings.
