How to Remove an LCD From a Sony Laptop

    • 1). Turn off the Sony laptop, making sure the power cable is disconnected. Remove the battery. You will be opening up the computer and this is a safety precaution that will keep you from getting shocked.

    • 2). Use a flat-ended object to remove the four rubber plugs. There is one plug located at each corner of the display bezel. Under each rubber plug will be a screw. Remove each screw with a Philips screw driver. Place both the rubber plugs and screws aside where they will not be lost.

    • 3). Slide your thumbnail under the bottom right corner of the screen bezel and gently lift up. Wiggle the bezel around to loosen it up. Gently slide your fingers under the bezel and run them up between the connected areas to cause separation. When a majority of the bezel is loose, grab the bezel with both hands and wiggle it free. Remove the bezel and set it aside.

    • 4). Remove the LCD screen from the cover and place it face down on the keyboard. With the screen face down, you will have a view of the video cable and back-light connections on the monitor. Unplug the video cable from the connector at the top of the back of the LCD screen. Unplug the LCD back-light cable from the right side of the inverter board located at the bottom of the screen. Remove and discard the LCD screen.
