How to Record a CD From Streaming Music
- 1). Download and install an audio program on your computer. Many options, free and otherwise, are available through the link in the Resources section. Read carefully about each option and be sure that the one you choose can record sounds that your computer is playing, often referred to as recording "what you hear." You will need to save what you record in the .wav format, so be sure the program can do that as well.
- 2). Start the audio software. Use the documentation or "readme" files that came with it to learn how to record "what you hear," then start an open-ended recording.
- 3). Start streaming the music that you want to record. As you do, your audio software should be recording the music. When you have recorded everything you want, stop the recording and save the file in the .wav format. Remember that a standard CD can usually fit no more than 12 standard length songs, so don't record more than that in one .wav file. It might be a good idea to start a new recording for every song.
- 4). Insert a blank CD into your CD/DVD ROM drive. Start the CD burning software that you have on your computer and choose to record a music CD. Drag and drop the .wav files you want to record to the CD into the software and burn the disk. When this process is complete, you will be able to listen to your recorded music in any standard CD player.
- 5). Repeat this entire process as many times as you want to fill up CDs with music streamed from the Internet.
