How to Install Brake Pads in a 1999 Ford F-250
- 1). Shove the brake pads against the front and rear of either back tire to prevent the F-250 from moving. Turn all the front lug nuts counterclockwise several turns to loosen them.
- 2). Pick up the front of the truck with the floor jack. Support it on jack stands. Never let the truck rest on the floor jack while you're working on it.
- 3). Remove each of the front lug nuts and both front wheels from the F-250 by hand.
- 4). Position the drop pan directly below the F-250's left-front brake rotor. Wash away the brake dust coating the rotor, caliper and hub using brake cleaner.
- 5). Unbolt the F-250's left-front caliper with the socket set. Pull the caliper out of the bracket and remove the old brake pads manually.
- 6). Clean the inside of the F-250's left-front caliper with brake cleaner. Apply white lithium grease to the caliper slide pins.
- 7). Install the new brake pads in the F-250's left-front caliper by hand. Set the caliper back in the bracket and bolt it in place.
- 8). Go around to the right-front and repeat steps three through seven. Put the F-250's wheels and lug nuts back on by hand.
- 9). Lower the Ford F-250 off the jack stands using the floor jack. Tighten the F-250's front lug nuts to 140 foot-pounds with the torque wrench. Move the wheel chocks away from the back tire before driving.
