Sound Blaster Microphone Problems

    Software/Driver Problems

    • If you're having general trouble or receiving error codes when you attempt to record audio with your microphone, you may have a driver issue. To remedy this, update your Sound Blaster's drivers to the latest version by downloading them from Creative's Help and Support Center. The program you're using to record may also be the source of problems. Try a different recording program to see if you experience the same issue.

    Windows Mixer Configuration

    • If no sound is recorded when you try to record, you may need to check the Microsoft Windows Sound Mixer settings. Ensure that the microphone input is selected as the recording source by adding a check mark to the Select box. The recording mixer is accessed via Options, Advanced Controls in the Mixer.

    Microphone Problems

    • If you are having trouble recording, it may be due to a problem with your microphone. Check your microphone to ensure it has fresh batteries installed if it requires them, that it is turned on and that it is plugged in to the Mic input on your Sound Blaster sound card. If you check all these things and still experience problems, your microphone may be damaged. Try a different microphone and see if you experience the same trouble; If not and you can record successfully with a different microphone, your microphone is definitely the source of the problems.
