How to Retrieve the Product Key for Windows XP Office
- 1). Find a key retrieval program; the CD key is encoded in the registry and cannot be read without special software. Try "Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder." Consider "Winkeyfinder" or "Keyfinder Thing" if you want to use a different program. Research programs until you find one that sounds easy to use and will recover your missing product key.
- 2). Download the product key recovery software. Install the software on your system if necessary; many of these programs require no installation.
- 3). Run the program you choose. Scan your system for product keys that the software can recover. Locate the key for Microsoft Office in the list of discovered keys.
