How do I Remove Start Up Items From Windows XP?

- 1). Click on the "Start" menu to open it.
- 2). Select "Run" by clicking on it.
- 3). Type "msconfig" in the Run window and press the "Enter" key or click "OK" on the screen to launch the System Configuration tool.
- 4). Click the "Startup" tab to view all programs that have start up privileges on your Windows XP computer.
- 5). Deselect the check boxes next to any programs that you no longer want to start automatically when you turn on your computer. Leave SystemTray and ScanRegistry checked, as these are both integral to the Windows XP user experience.
- 6). Click the "Apply" button to remove the unchecked programs from your start up items list. The changes take effect the next time the computer is restarted.
