How to Make a Hard Disk Bootable Using BartPE

    Creating the Bootable CD

    • 1). Download the latest BartPE builder version. Downloading the most recent version will ensure all compatibility issues are completely up to date.

    • 2). Install the BartPE builder in Windows.

    • 3). Insert your Windows installation/setup CD in to your CD/DVD drive.

    • 4). Click "Yes" when prompted to tell the BartPE to begin searching your computer for the installation files. It will automatically begin looking for a CD in your CD/DVD drive.

    • 5). Click "Burn to CD/DVD" and select your CD/DVD writer drive. Insert a blank CD/DVD.

    • 6). Click "Build" and "Yes" to begin building the BartPE directory.

    • 7). Click "Agree" when prompted with your Windows license information.

Booting the Computer With Bart PE

    • 1). Insert the BartPE CD into the target computer's CD/DVD drive.

    • 2). Power up the computer you wish to boot using BartPE. During the initial power-up, select your computer's boot menu by pressing the designated key. For example, Toshiba laptops require the user to press F12 while starting up to enter the boot menu. Examine the bottom of the computer screen during start-up to learn which button your system requires.

    • 3). Select your CD/DVD drive as the boot device. BartPE will begin to boot and mount your hard drive.
