How to Add New Windows Effects in Mint
- 1). Select the Linux Mint menu, type "Synaptic Package Manager" into the search box and press "Enter."
- 2). Type "Compiz" into the search box and press "Enter."
- 3). Right-click the package "compizconfig-settings-manager" and select "Mark for Installation." Synaptic will prompt you to install additional packages required to run the Compiz compositing engine.
- 4). Click "Apply" to install the selected packages. You must enter your administrative password to continue.
- 5). Select the Linux Mint menu, type "Advanced Desktop Effects Settings" into the search box and press "Enter" to launch Compiz settings manager and configure your window and desktop effects
- 1). Launch the Compiz settings manager.
- 2). Enable window transparency by clicking the check box beside "Opacify" in the "Accessibility" section.
- 3). Click "Opacify" to configure window transparency effects. You can set opacity values for active and inactive windows using the sliders.
- 4). Click "New" in the "Window Specific Effects" section of the "Opacify" plug-in configuration window to set up menu transparency.
- 5). Type "dropdownmenu" as the value and use the slider to set the opacity level of menus.
- 6). Click "Save" when you have configured transparency effects for windows and menus to save your settings.
- 1). Launch the Compiz settings manager.
- 2). Enable transition effects by clicking the checkbox beside "Animations" in the "Effects" section.
- 3). Click "Animations" to configure window animations for minimizing, maximizing, launching and closing application windows.
- 4). Select the "Effect Settings" tab and enable "Random Animations for All Events."
- 5). Select the "Close Animation" tab.
- 6). Select the effect listed in the "Animation Selection" list and then click "Edit."
- 7). Select the animation effect you prefer from the drop-down menua and then click "Close."
- 8). Repeat Step 6 and Step 7 for the "Minimize Animation," "Shade Animation" and "Focus Animation" tabs.
- 1). Launch the Compiz settings manager.
- 2). Enable wobbly windows by clicking the check box beside "Wobbly Windows" in the "Effects" section.
- 3). Click "Wobbly Windows" to configure this window effect. You can set windows to snap to edges, adjust the wobble of your displayed windows and enable sound effects that will accompany window wobbles.
- 1). Launch the Compiz settings manager.
- 2). Enable the window selection overlay by clicking the check box beside "Scale" in the "Window Management" section.
- 3). Click "Scale" to configure the activation method for displaying your open windows. You can set the plug-in to display open windows using a keyboard shortcut or by moving your mouse to a designated corner of your screen.
- 4). Enable the desktop selection overly by clicking the check box beside "Expo" in the "Desktop" section.
- 5). Clik "Expo" to configure the activation method for displaying your desktop spaces. As with scale, you can set expo to activate with your keyboard or mouse.
