How to Remove Windows Antivirus 2008
- 1). Use the Windows search tool to locate the program. Search for "wav.exe", "WAV2008Setup.exe", and "wav.cpl".
- 2). Open the Windows task manager by clicking simultaneously on "Ctrl + Alt + Del" and open the "Processes" tab. Locate and end "wav.exe","WAV2008Setup.exe", "Antvrs.exe", and "WindowsAntivirus2008.exe".
- 3). Open the Windows registry editor by typing "regedit" into the "Run" menu. Locate and delete the following registry entries:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Antivirus
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Antivirus
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WAV - 4). Download the free software Malwarebytes Anti-Malware at malwarebytes.org.
- 5). Install the anti-malware program by running the executable file. If it fails to run rename the file to "mb.exe" and run it again.
- 6). Run the anti-malware program and perform a full scan of your computer. Remove any remaining traces of Windows Antivirus 2008 and restart your system.
