How to Upgrade an XP Service Pack 1 to SP 2

- 1). Click "Start" at the bottom of the screen.
- 2). Click "All Programs" and then find and click "Windows Update." This opens up the Windows Update website in your default web browser.
- 3). View your available updates. If you are still running Service Pack 1, Service Pack 2 will show in your available updates as "high priority."
- 4). Select "Express Install" to start installing the "high priority" updates.
- 5). Click "Download and Install" on the next page. This will start the download and installation of Service Pack 2.
- 6). Accept the End User License Agreement that pops up to continue the installation.
- 7). Restart your computer when prompted to after the installation is complete. A window will pop-up with the option to "Restart Now." The changes will be in effect after the computer is restarted.
