How to Write Metadata for Audio

    • 1). Select the metadata authoring feature in your audio editing software. Enter your audio track information into the fields provided when prompted, which typically include artist name; track title; album title; track number; year; genre; and comments.

    • 2). Save your digital audio file's metadata to embed the information into the file.

    • 3). Export your digital audio file in the format of your choice, with options ranging from WAV files, playable only on PCs; MP3, playable on PCs, Mac and a variety of audio devices; or WMA, playable on Windows Media Player, among others.

    • 4). Check your file for metadata using a computer-based music player program or external audio device. Look for the information you embedded to appear, including, but not limited to, track title and artist.
