- 1). Remove your hard drive from your computer. Consult the user guide to your particular model computer in order to find out how to properly remove the drive.
- 2). Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove all screws from the metal frame which houses the hard drive.
- 3). Use your screwdriver to remove all screws from the top cover of the hard drive itself. Then lift up the cover to reveal the internal components of the device.
- 4). Grip your can of compressed air and spray the internal components of the hard drive liberally to remove any dust from the device.
- 5). Grip your can of spray oil and spray the internal components of the hard drive once to lubricate the drive. One time is enough, as you do not want to completely douse your hard drive in oil. Then, reassemble your hard drive in the reverse order you took it apart.
