How to Change Screen Brightness on an HP Laptop
- 1). Set your screen resolution before adjusting the brightness. To do so, right-click on your Desktop and click on "Properties" to launch the Display Properties dialog box. If you are using Windows Vista, open "Display Settings" by clicking on the "Start" button, "Control Panel," "Appearance and Personalization," then "Display Settings."
- 2). Drag the slider under "Screen Resolution" left or right to select the resolution that you want to use. Click on "Apply" to save the changes then "OK."
- 3). Press the "Fn" button located on the lower left corner of your keyboard while pressing the "Reduce Brightness" key. The "Brightness" key has an image of the sun with an arrow facing down. To increase the brightness, press the "Fn" key and the "Increase Brightness" button together. The "Increase Brightness" button has an image of the sun and an arrow pointing up.
