How to Activate Administrative Rights in Windows Vista

    Run Once as Administrator

    • 1). Open the folder containing the program you want to run as an administrator. If the program is installed and has a shortcut in the "Start" menu, you can also use this shortcut to launch the program as an administrator.

    • 2). Right-click the program or shortcut name and click "Run as administrator."

    • 3). Supply an administrator's username and password when prompted by the User Account Control. If you are already logged in as an administrator, simply click "Continue."

    Always Run as Administrator

    • 1). Open the folder containing the application file that should be run as an administrator.

    • 2). Right-click the file and click "Properties."

    • 3). Click "Compatibility."

    • 4). Place a check mark next to "Run this program as an administrator" and click "OK."

    • 5). Supply your administrator logon details or click "Continue" when the User Account Control asks you to confirm the action.
