- 1). Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Control Panel." Double-click the "System" icon to open the system properties window.
- 2). Click the "Computer Name" tab in system properties window. In this window, view the section labeled "Full Computer Name." This is your computer's name, which is also the address. You can take it a step further and retrieve the IP address from this name.
- 3). Click the Windows Start button and select "Run." Enter "cmd" into the text box and press the "OK" button. This opens the Windows command prompt.
- 4). Enter "ping <computer_name>" into the command prompt. Replace "<computer_name>" with the name you retrieved from the system properties. This will return your IP address.
