How to Change the Start-Up Password on Windows XP

    • 1). Power on your Windows XP computer and log in to the computer's administrative (primary) account.

    • 2). Click the Start button on the Desktop taskbar and open the Control Panel.

    • 3). Click User Accounts and scroll to "or pick an account to change." Select the account you want to edit by clicking its icon.

    • 4). Choose "Change the password" if changing an existing password, or "Create a password" if making a password for the first time.

    • 5). Type in your new password into the respective boxes. If creating a new password, type your old password into the appropriate box. Confirm the changes. This user account now has a new password.
