How to Make a Custom Recovery Disk for Windows 7

    • 1). Insert the cable from the external hard drive into an open USB port on your computer.

    • 2). Close the "AutoPlay" window that opens and click "Start." Type "backup and recovery" into the search field, and click the "Backup and Restore" option that appears.

    • 3). Click the "Create a system image" option in the left pane of the window that appears.

    • 4). Select the "On a hard disk" radio button in the destination window that appears.

    • 5). Click the drive letter for the external hard drive from the drop-down list.

    • 6). Select the "Next" button and click "Start Backup" to create the custom recovery disk for your Windows 7 system.
