How to Uninstall the DriveCleaner Rogue Security Program
- 1). Download HijackThis and unzip it (see Resources below for the download link). Click on the "Start" button in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Click on "Control Panel." Click on "Add/Remove Programs."
- 2). Locate the entry labeled "DriveCleaner" from the list of programs. Click on "Remove." Reboot your PC in Safe Mode after the removal process is complete. You can initiate Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key on the keyboard while your computer boots.
- 3). Open HijackThis. Run a system scan. Delete the entries listed below from the list that is presented to you:O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SDR6_Check] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\DriveCleaner Free \udcsdr.exe"O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PAS_Check] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\DriveCleaner Free \udcpas.exe"
- 4). Click on the "Start" button again and then click on "My Computer." Double-click on drive C. Double-click on "Program Files," and then on "Common Files."
- 5). Locate the folder labeled "DriveCleaner." Right-click on this file and click on "Delete" in the drop-down menu.
- 6). Navigate back to drive C and then to "Program Files." Right-click on any folder labeled "DriveCleaner" or "DriveCleaner Free." Delete each of these.
- 7). Reboot your computer in normal mode, and you are done!
