How to Change the Cabin Air Filter in a 2005 VW GTI
- 1). Open the hood and locate the filter cover in the left-hand corner of the engine bay, starting just under the windshield.
- 2). Pull out the rubber gasket on the left of the air filter cover.
- 3). Unscrew the four screws that run across the top of the air filter cover using a Phillips head screwdriver, then pull off the cover.
- 4). Pull the air filter assembly out of the GTI.
- 5). Pull the old filter out of the assembly and place the new one inside.
- 6). Slide the new filter into the GTI and place the cover over it. Secure it in place with the four screws you removed earlier.
- 7). Push the rubber gasket back into the car.
