How to Replace a Headlight Bulb on a 2001 BMW 325i
- 1). Locate the headlight with the broken or damaged bulb. Unplug the wire-harness connector that clips into the back of the headlight housing bulb. Pinch the tab holding the connector in place, and pull backwards to remove it.
- 2). Turn the back of the bulb unit counter-clockwise, and unscrew the bulb until it is free from the headlight housing. Remove the bulb gently to avoid breaking the bulb inside of the the headlight housing.
- 3). Insert the replacement bulb into the position of the previous bulb. Avoid touching the surface of the bulb with your bare hands.
- 4). Screw the replacement bulb into the headlight housing using a clockwise motion until the bulb no longer moves. Avoid using excess force when tightening the bulb, as this can cause the unit to break.
- 5). Connect the wire-harness clip into the back of the headlight bulb. The clip should make a snapping noise when it is firmly in place.
