How to Fix System Restore on Vista
- 1). Insert the Vista Installation Disk into your computer and restart the machine. Press any key when indicated by the startup messages to boot from the CD. This will take you to the Vista installation screen.
- 2). Navigate through the installation screens until you reach the screen that offers you the option to "Repair Your Computer." Click on that option then click on the disk containing Windows Vista from the list that appears. In most cases, only one option will be present, making the choice simple. This will trigger the automated repair process.
- 3). Wait until the automated repair process completes (which can take quite some time), then cancel out of the option to use the "System Restore" feature. Cancel out of the remaining options and select the "Restart" option to restart your newly repaired PC, returning you back to the comfort of your operating system.
