- 1). Turn on your computer or restart it if it is already on. Press the "F8" key when the boot menu appears during the start-up process.
- 2). Select "Directory Services Restore Mode" from the list of available boot modes.
- 3). Select the hard drive and Windows 2000 installation you wish to restore and press "Enter."
- 4). Enter your system's password if prompted when you log in.
- 5). Click the "OK" option to confirm that you are going to boot your system in Safe Mode.
- 6). Click the "Start" button and go to Programs/Accessories/System Tools and select "Backup."
- 7). Select the "Restore" tab in the Backup window.
- 8). Select 'Original Location" in the "Restore Files to" box.
- 9). Select "Start Restore" to begin the restore process. You computer will be restored to its original state and all of your files will be restored to the way they were before the update.
