How to Convert a Video iPod to an MPEG

    • 1). Find and download MPEG converter software. There are several different third-party applications that will perform this conversion. See "Resources" for a link to a converter program.

    • 2). Install the third-party program onto your hard drive. Once you have downloaded the software, install it onto your hard drive.

    • 3). Start the third-party program and choose the iPod video you wish to convert. This video will most likely be in an Mp4 video format.

    • 4). Choose the video format you wish to convert your iPod video to. Most programs will offer a list of file formats that you can convert your iPod video to. Choose the MPEG format to start the conversion process.

    • 5). Change the conversion settings if you are not satisfied with the default settings. Every program will have default settings that will determine the quality of the video, which will in turn affect the size of the file. If you want a higher-quality video, the file will be larger and the conversion process will take longer.

    • 6). Check to make sure the file has been properly converted. You can look for file details by right clicking the video file and choosing "properties." You will be able to see the name of the file along with the file extension. The file extension is located after the period and should read .mpg or .mpeg.
