How to Troubleshoot the MX6 Power Window That Goes Down But Not Up
- 1). Check the fuses in the fuse panel. To find the fuse panel use the diagram in the owners manual that came with the car.
- 2). Use the test light to test the fuses one by one. Attach the clamp end of the test light to a good ground source. Touch the probe of the test light to the metal connector on the top of the fuse. If the test light lights up this means the fuse is good. If it doesn't light up the fuse is bad and must be replaced with the same size fuse.
- 3). Try the window. If it still doesn't work remove the inside door panel.
- 4). Turn the ignition switch to the "on" position so you know there will be power going to the window.
- 5). Use the test light to test all the wires on the window switch and the window motor to see if any power is reaching them. If there is current, use the short piece of wire to create a jump connection.
- 6). Find the hot wire on the switch using the test light. Strip both ends of the short piece of wire so they are bare.
- 7). Leave the wire attached to the hot wire and attach the other end of the wire to the back of the switch. If the wire sparks do not hold it for a long period of time as it can cause damage to other components.
- 8). Try the window, if it moves, you have a bad window switch. If it doesn't move and you are sure you have power going to the window then the window motor is defective. It is not uncommon for both parts to be bad at the same time.
