How to Put the Top Down on a Convertible VW Cabriolet
- 1). Locate the locking handles at the front driver and passenger sides of the vehicle top. They are between the sun visor and side windows. Pull down with some force and press the tiny release lever as you pull. Do this on both sides.
- 2). Pull the handles towards the front window as you push up and back at the same time to release the hooks from the car and to move the convertible top up away from the windshield. Click the handles back into a closed position as you push the top back.
- 3). Push the top down and back towards the rear of the car while neatly pushing the material into the fold created by the movement of the top.
- 4). Click the top into place on both sides, ensuring that it locked into place for safe driving. If you have a boot, you can put it into place now.
- 1). Open trunk and release safety lock by pulling knob on the left side of the trunk, and pull the right-side strap to fold rear seat forward.
- 2). Remove and place boot over the folded top and slide hooks into the loops just over the trunk area.
- 3). Attach the section of the boot that is inside the Cabriolet to the underside of the trunk shelf with the Velcro.
- 4). Use the hooks or snaps on the boot to fasten the sides, put the seat back up until it clicks into place, and the VW Cabriolet is ready to drive with the top down.
